Kandy - Sri lanka Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings which is a World Heritage Site. The name "Kandy" conjures visions of splendour and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Drive around the Kandy Lake built by the last Sinhala king, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. Visit the Kandy town and Bazaar, the arts and crafts centre, a gem museum and a lapidary. Also visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. FRIENDSHIP CUP Victoria Golf Course Victoria Golf Club is the youngest of the three golf courses in Sri Lanka. Completed four years ago, it is the first to be built in 100 years. Victoria is located in Rajawella, just outside the Hill Capital, Kandy. The shortest route from the Bandaranaike International Airport to Kandy is a two and a half hour drive. If Time is not a factor, a slightly longer but more scenic Negombo Route via Kurunegala is recommended. Kandy, Sri Lanka May 2005 to May 2005 |
